The Following are some of the basis elements of a good Human Resources Program. How do rate the items in your HR program. Rate each item from 1 to 5, with 1 being not in place, and 5 being completely confident and satisfied.

1. I have completed I-9 forms on all employees with the appropriate documentation.
2. I use an employment application that is non-discriminatory and up to date.
3. I maintain a personnel file on each employee that contains all required and important documents relating to their employment.
4. I conduct an orientation for each new employee and an exit interview for each departing employee.
5. I have an Employee Handbook that conveys important policies to my employees regarding performance expectations, conduct on the job, employee benefits and other critical employee relations policies.
6. I have a progressive disciplinary system and have written documentation for all disciplinary actions.
7. I have written job descriptions for each position that comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities) requirements.
8. My company has all of the required labor laws posted in a visible area as required by Federal and State agencies.
9. I maintain the OSHA 300 log on all work related employee injuries and illnesses (required for most businesses with 10 or more employees).
10. I have an OSHA compliant Hazard Communication Program for all materials used in my business that may be considered by OSHA as hazardous.
